1. Introduction:

The Fermentation Process and Systems Integration Research Group is dedicated to fundamental research in the field of applied fundamentals and engineering technology during the concept validation and scale-up industrial application processes. The group focuses on process optimization, innovation in equipment and key components, integration of upstream and downstream systems, and aims to improve process stability, technical reliability, and facilitate the transformation of research center achievements and market integration.

The group focuses on: 1) the bioconversion of one-carbon molecules to produce C2 compounds (such as ethanol, acetic acid) and the pilot-scale amplification and engineering research of high-carbon materials like oils and PHA; 2) pilot-scale amplification and engineering research for the continuous fermentation of C4 compounds (such as butanol, butyric acid) using low-cost carbon sources; 3) bio-utilization and engineering research in the fields of waste biomass, mid-late stage reservoirs, industrial solid wastes, and other resources.

The main research directions include: 1) Design and construction of novel bioreactors; 2) Fermentation process regulation and innovation of key components; 3) Integration and system integration of upstream and downstream systems; 4) Microbial metabolic pathway reconstruction based on fermentation regulation.

2. Research Project:

1) Process and system integration for the fermentation of synthesis gas to produce C2 compounds.

2) High-intensity continuous fermentation process and system integration for butanol.

3) Microbial transformation technology and system integration for resource utilization.

3. Research Platforms:

1) Anaerobic microbial genetic manipulation platform.

2) Anaerobic/aerobic fermentation devices and engineering platform.

3) Fermentation product analysis and detection platform.

4) Fermentation engineering design and control system development platform.

4. Main Achievements:

Second prize of Shandong Province Natural Science Award (2021, second place).
