Profile

Using lignocellulosic biomass and syngas as raw materials, bioconversion of anaerobic Clostridia is employed to produce bioenergy such as ethanol and butanol. In order to understand the metabolic mechanisms of energy and acid-alcohol metabolism in Clostridium species, including Clostridium beijerinckii, Clostridium acetobutylicum, Clostridium cellulolyticum, and Clostridium thermocellum, molecular genetic manipulation and fermentation platforms have been established. Based on this research, targeted molecular engineering strains and fermentation tanks are being designed to improve the efficiency of bioconversion to an industrial level.
